Tattenhall
Cricket Club is a member of the Murray
Smith Cheshire County League, where the 1st and 2nd XI's play
on Saturdays, the 3rd XI on Sundays, and the Over-40s XI play midweek.
In addition, over 100 juniors are involved at Under-9's to Under-18's
levels, with Saturday morning coaching sessions for the Under-9's.
Indoor nets take place in February and March, and outdoor practice
sessions start in early April.
The playing conditions and amenities at Tattenhall are second-to-none
with a square that consistently obtained the highest marks from
visiting teams. A new score box, covers and sight screens, together
with the new changing facilities, make Tattenhall arguably one of
the best appointed clubs in the area. The club enjoys an active
social life based around the Memorial Pavilion. There
has been a cricket club in Tattenhall since circa 1864, playing
on the current site since the early 1900s. During this time, the
club has played in the Chester & North Wales League, the Cheshire
Conference, the Cheshire Association, the South Cheshire Alliance,
the Cheshire County League, and the Cheshire Cricket League.
Tattenhall
Cricket Club has a long history of success having been champions
of the Chester & North Wales League in 1894, 1897, 1903, 1905
and 1906. More recently, the club won the Boughton Hall Knockout
Competition in 1996 and 1997, emulating earlier wins in 1924, 1929,
1951 and 1952.
In league campaigns, the First and Second XI's were champions of
the South Cheshire Alliance in 1995, 1996 and 1997. The club won
the Enders Rose Bowl in 1999 for the “most improved club” in the
Cheshire County League and won the Eddie Howard Memorial Trophy
for “sportsmanship and fair play” in 2000. Having had a disappointing
season in 2001 the club spent a season in the Mellor Braggins Cheshire
League, with a determination to regain its’ place in the County
League. Both 1st and 2nd teams finished the season as Champions
of their respective divisions, and were promoted to compete at the
highest level!
Unfortunately
relegation to the Meller Braggins league re-occurred in the 2005
season, but again the 1st 11 bounced back to regain their county
league status at the first attempt winning the Meller Braggins league
division 1 in 2006
The
Club has an enviable reputation for playing a high standard of cricket,
whilst retaining a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Which has
attained the ECB Clubmark registration, which is a guarantee of
efficient and forward-looking management incorporating Child Protection
and Equity Policies and Development Plans.
The
Club would welcome new players of all ages and abilities, and can
guarantee a safe and enjoyable cricketing environment
